Monarchs

Screw Drivers Monarchs

Five rulers stand between you and domination — defeat them all.

Last updated:

Career mode in Screw Drivers is structured around five boss encounters called Monarchs. Each Monarch guards a section of the island and must be defeated in order to unlock new parts, races, and ultimately the final showdown. Understanding each Monarch’s strengths and weaknesses is the key to efficient progression.

The Monarch progression

You face the Monarchs in a fixed order. Each one is harder than the last and demands better vehicles, sharper driving, or both. Defeating a Monarch unlocks the next tier of parts in the tech tree and grants an achievement.

Prince of Gears is the first boss you encounter. The Prince is designed as a teaching fight — beatable with a starter car and basic parts like rubber wheels and the Electrix-180 motor. This fight introduces you to checkpoint racing and the importance of clean lines.

Combustion King steps up the difficulty. The King runs combustion engines and raw speed, so you need to upgrade your build accordingly. Electric motors alone will not cut it here; you need to start thinking about gear ratios and weight reduction.

Queen of Quickening is all about acceleration. Her vehicle launches hard and maintains speed through corners. You need a responsive build with good throttle control to keep pace.

King of Kinetics throws complex physics challenges at you. The track layout punishes sloppy driving, and the King’s vehicle handles terrain that would stop lesser builds. Creative engineering is required.

Secret Queen is the final boss and the hardest fight in the game. She uses unique parts not available in the standard tech tree, including a compass system. Defeating her requires mastery of every mechanic Screw Drivers has to offer.

General tips for Monarch races

Checkpoints are the only requirement to finish a race. You do not need to stay on the road — cutting across terrain through checkpoints is often faster than following the paved route. Ghost racers from previous attempts take suboptimal lines, so do not blindly follow them.

Learn to drift. Lifting the throttle before a corner is more effective than braking in most situations. Excessive downforce slows you on straights without giving enough cornering benefit to compensate. Balance is key.

Career mode also hides treasures and paint colors that only spawn during career play — they do not appear in the tech tree or creative mode. Explore the island between races to collect them. See Treasure Locations and Color Locations for details.

Achievement hunting

Each Monarch defeat unlocks a specific achievement. Beating all five is required for full completion. The achievements track which Monarchs you have defeated, so you can check your progress at any time.

  • Builds for vehicle designs optimized for each Monarch
  • Parts for engine and component specs
