Screw Drivers Treasure Locations

Every hidden chest on the island — locations, methods, and builds to reach them.

Last updated:

Hidden treasure chests are one of the most rewarding collectibles in Screw Drivers. These chests are scattered across the island and only appear in career mode — they do not spawn in the tech tree or creative mode. Finding them all requires exploration, observation, and sometimes creative vehicle engineering.

How the treasure system works

Treasure chests appear as chest icons on the map during free run sessions in career mode. When you enter free run, the map displays icons for nearby chests. Drive to each icon to collect the treasure. Chests remain collected once picked up, so you do not need to worry about them respawning.

Not all chests are visible from the start. Some require you to reach specific areas of the island first, and others are hidden in locations that are not immediately obvious from the map. The chest icon shows the general area, but you may need to look around — up on cliffs, inside structures, or on top of terrain features.

Known treasure locations

Roadside and field chests

The easiest treasures are along main roads and in open fields. These chests are accessible with any vehicle and require no special engineering. Drive along the main roads in free run and collect these first. They serve as an introduction to the treasure system and reward basic exploration.

Rock tower chest

One of the most talked-about treasures sits atop a rock tower formation. This chest cannot be reached by driving up — the tower is too steep and narrow for conventional vehicles. You need a creative build to access it.

Several approaches work. Building a vehicle with extendable arms that can reach up and grab the chest is one option. Constructing a ramp from nearby parts and driving up is another. Some players build helicopter-style vehicles with upward thrust to lift themselves to the top. A fourth approach is a rock climber build — a vehicle with specialized suspension and wheel placement that can scale vertical surfaces.

Each approach requires experimentation. The rock tower chest is intentionally designed to reward engineering creativity, so there is no single correct solution. Try different builds and see which approach works with your available parts.

Strange tower area chests

The area around the strange tower on the island contains multiple chests. Some are at ground level and easy to collect, while others are elevated or hidden in the tower structure. Explore the entire area systematically — check the base, the surrounding terrain, and any elevated platforms.

Beach and coastal chests

Several chests are located along the island’s coastline. These are generally easy to reach but may be far from main roads, requiring detours through less-traveled terrain. A vehicle with good off-road capability helps for reaching isolated beach chests.

Interior terrain chests

The island’s interior features rough terrain with chests hidden among hills, forests, and rocky areas. These require vehicles with good ground clearance and all-terrain tires. Some interior chests are in valleys or depressions that are not visible until you are close.

Builds for hard-to-reach chests

Certain treasures require specialized vehicle builds. Here are the main approaches:

Arm builds attach extendable structures to your vehicle that can reach elevated chests. These builds are engineering-intensive but solve multiple hard-to-reach locations. See Builds for arm construction techniques.

Helicopter builds use upward-facing thrust to lift the vehicle vertically. These are useful for reaching chests on top of towers, cliffs, and elevated platforms. The challenge is controlling the ascent and landing safely.

Ramp builds carry deployable ramps that create paths to elevated locations. You build a ramp, position it, and drive up to the chest. This approach works well for rock formations and short elevated surfaces.

Rock climber builds use specialized wheel and suspension configurations to scale vertical or near-vertical surfaces. These vehicles look unusual but can climb terrain that is impossible for conventional builds.

For general exploration, a lightweight all-terrain vehicle with good ground clearance handles most treasure locations. Save the specialized builds for the handful of truly difficult chests.

Treasure hunting tips

Explore during free run, not during races. Races have time pressure and defined routes that prevent detours. Free run lets you roam at your own pace.

Check the map frequently. Chest icons appear when you are close enough, so driving through different areas of the island reveals new icons. Systematic exploration — covering the island section by section — is more efficient than random driving.

Return to areas you explored early in career mode. Some chests may only appear after certain career milestones, or you may have missed icons that were just outside your detection range.

Mark locations you cannot reach yet. If a chest requires a build technique you have not mastered, note the location and come back later with the right vehicle. See Color Locations for paint pickups you can collect alongside treasures.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Do treasure chests appear in creative mode?

No. Treasure chests only spawn in career mode during free run sessions. They do not appear in the tech tree or creative mode.

How do I reach the rock tower chest?

You need a creative vehicle build — options include arm builds, helicopter vehicles, deployable ramps, or rock climber configurations. There is no single correct approach.

Do I need to collect all treasures in one session?

No. Collected treasures stay collected permanently. You can gather them across multiple free run sessions.

Why can I not see any chest icons on my map?

Chest icons appear when you are close enough to detect them. Drive through different areas of the island to reveal icons. Make sure you are in career mode free run, not creative mode.
